About the Trail
Loughton Art Trail is a semi-annual community arts event that offers engagement with the visual arts for local artists in Loughton Essex and the surrounding area, through town-wide arts exhibitions, workshops, walks, children and family activities. Shops and businesses, churches, community centres, libraries and colleges display artwork by local artists.
Loughton Art Trail began in 2014, in collaboration with LifeWorks Creative Arts Centre, Loughton Arts Centre and pop-up venues around Loughton taking part.
The 2017 Loughton Art Trail saw 56 artists exhibiting over 6 venues, with 6 events including a children's fun day in the High Road, an art trail walk, around 1000 visitors across all the venues and almost £1000 of art sold.
The 2018 Trail was the largest yet, with 20 venues participating, 90 artists and 2 weeks of programmes and activities. The Trail benefited greatly from a £10 000 Awards for All grant.
2020's trail with a climate theme, which was set to run in May, aimed to bring together schools, businesses, charities and religious organisations to make a difference for our planet in Loughton and the surrounding area.
Workshops, walks, talks, fairs, arts events and exhibitions were set to run across the town of Loughton from the 15th-30th May.
The festival has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing co-vid 19 situation, however we are still running a scaled back online exhibition that showcases local artist's work and talent.
All art forms are welcome, including visual art, poetry, shorts stories, and plays.
Loughton Art Trail is run by volunteers and artists within the Loughton community. Our mission is to give local artists of all levels the opportunity to share their artwork with the community; and bring the community together in celebrating the visual arts.
